Open transporters operate a lot like enclosed auto shipping carriers except they don’t offer the protections that enclosed shippers do. Open transporters are, however, the cheapest auto shipping option, namely due to their prevalence on the road and the basic setup of the rig. There are two tiers, top and bottom, and up to five cars can fit on each. Most open transporters can haul anywhere from five to ten vehicles, and the price per vehicle tends to drop the larger you go. Open shipping is the cheapest by far, but it does leave the vehicles open to the elements – it’s safe enough, on the whole, though.
